Les discordances de gestion du risque comme de la crise requin, en termes de méthodes (prévention, protection jusqu’à l’interdiction d’accéder à l’eau), de temporalités (immédiateté de l’action, court terme, long terme) constituent des révélateurs des nombreux enjeux de la gestion du milieu marin et du risque, comme des conflits d’acteurs à l’échelon local mais aussi de l’île de la Réunion dans son ensemble.
The discrepancies in the management of risk and the shark crisis, in terms of methods (prevention, protection to the point of banning access to the water), and temporalities (immediacy of action, short term, long term) are revealing of the many issues at stake in the management of the marine environment and risk, as well as conflicts between actors at the local level but also for Reunion Island as a whole.
L’objectif de ce travail de master (composé principalement d’un film documentaire accompagné d’un mémoire) était d’appréhender et de caractériser les représentations de l’océan et de l’animal sauvage dans un territoire insulaire marqué par une « crise requin », afin de comprendre ce qui organise aujourd’hui le système d’acteurs et fonde la gestion d’un risque un peu particulier, parce que mobile.
The aim of this master's thesis (mainly composed of a documentary film accompanied by a dissertation) was to apprehend and characterize the representations of the ocean and wild animals in an island territory marked by a "shark crisis", in order to understand what organizes the system of actors today and provides the basis for the management of a risk that is somewhat particular, because it is mobile.
